kathy photoIn December of 2003 I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy with reconstruction and my rectus abdominal muscles were used as a blood supply for the reconstruction. This left me with no rectus abdominal muscles. These are the muscles that you would use to sit up.

Paul has taught me that I don’t need these muscles. He has trained me to use my other muscles to do everything that my rectus abdominal muscles did before. Paul has taught me that the body can retrain itself to do anything that it needs to do and that there is no such word as “can’t” except in our own mind.

I like going to “Boot Camp” so much better than just going to the gym or trying to work out by myself. It’s nice to work out in the sunshine and fresh air at the park for that hour a day. It gives me the energy to get through the rest of my day. Many of the moms bring their young children and the kids love their hour at the park also. There are people that are beginners and people that have been there for years, but Paul makes sure that everyone gets a good workout.

kathy photoI really enjoy learning how to weight train with the “KettleBell” and every week Paul gives us something new and challenging to work at. Paul’s program is designed to make us strong and healthy and he gives advice on nutrition and helps us with our diet. As a result of this, one of the benefits of working out with Paul is the loss of inches.

The best part about “Boot Camp” is that you have a support system with Paul and all of the other trainees that are there. Everyone is very supportive and the time usually flies by because we socialize at the same time that we are working out. We like to whine and complain, but Paul always has a smile on his face because he knows that it is always in fun.
